One of My Super Powers Is…Curiosity

A year or two ago I was working with a client who was feeling stuck integrating the company he founded into the large global company that bought it.

My client was finding it difficult to read the political tea leaves. While he knew that he had to position his team and himself strategically vis-a-vis a myriad of conflicting agendas, he couldn’t always understand the motivations of key players to the extent he needed to.

I grabbed my bag of techniques, insights, and exercises intent on helping him master this very important leadership skill. Indeed, my various methodologies and approaches served him well…until they didn’t.

So, I asked him if he was curious.

This simple question ignited a profound realization…for me. From dismantling mechanical toys to unraveling human behavior, curiosity has always been my driving force.

As a coach, it propels me through complex scenarios, guiding clients toward transformative insights. Curiosity isn’t just a trait—it’s the spark that fuels discovery and drives us toward growth, one question at a time.

Embracing curiosity isn’t just about asking questions; it’s about embarking on a journey of exploration and understanding. It’s about peeling back the layers of complexity to reveal the core truths that lie beneath. In a world filled with uncertainty and ambiguity. curiosity serves as a guiding light.

So, the next time you find yourself facing a seemingly insurmountable obstacle, ask yourself: “Am I curious?” And let the answer guide you towards new possibilities and opportunities for growth.
